From Basic Internet Access to Premium Network ExperienceAINOPOL All-Optical Infrastructure Restructures Digital Productivity of Logistics Parks

Invested and built by Huanggang State Investment Group with a total capital of 1.38 billion yuan, the Eastern Hubei (Huanggang) Smart Logistics Comprehensive Service Center is a benchmark smart logistics park. It covers a total land area of 367.74 mu and a total construction area of 327,000 square meters. The park can process 600,000 express parcels daily, handle an annual offline logistics distribution volume of 5 million cubic meters, and provide 1,200 jobs.

Network requirements for modern logistics parks have long gone far beyond simple internet access. Warehouse sorting, video security surveillance, and IoT device access — following the commissioning of Office Building No.17, every business segment has put forward stringent demands for network bandwidth, latency and capacity.

The project set clear requirements: build a high-performance office network capable of supporting 3,000 online terminals concurrently, achieve full wireless coverage across the office building, and ensure high-speed and smooth network operation.

01 Core Demands of Multi-Service Scenarios in the Park

Warehousing & Sorting Scenario: High Concurrency, Low Latency, Stable Transmission

Within the core warehousing and sorting area of the logistics park, operators move between shelves holding PDA terminals, with continuous barcode scanning sounds echoing around. AGV robots travel rapidly along preset routes, delivering goods accurately to designated workstations.

Every second, hundreds of scanning records, inventory update commands, and equipment scheduling data flood into the WMS/ERP system. Any network lag or packet loss will lead to backlogs on sorting lines, disorientation of AGVs, and compromised outbound efficiency.

This scenario requires a network featuring high concurrent capacity, low-latency transmission and high reliability. Even when hundreds of terminals operate simultaneously, handheld devices can roam and switch smoothly at high speed without packet loss, ensuring seamless sorting procedures and real-time, accurate business data.

Security Monitoring Scenario: Large Bandwidth, High Uplink, Stable Backhaul

Hundreds of high-definition cameras are deployed across the park — along perimeter walls, at entrances and exits, on high pole lamps, and in cold storage corners — providing round-the-clock full-area surveillance. On the monitoring center’s large screen, real-time video streams switch fluently, and security staff can playback historical footage from any camera at any time.

Behind this operation lies massive video data that needs stable backhaul to storage servers. A single 4K camera generates an uplink stream up to 20 Mbps; concurrent transmission of hundreds of such streams imposes stringent requirements on network uplink bandwidth.

Therefore, the network must deliver large bandwidth, high uplink capacity and stable data backhaul, while maintaining low latency and energy efficiency. It ensures fluent real-time HD video preview, lossless video storage, and smooth remote playback. Meanwhile, it balances construction costs and O&M efficiency, fully supporting full-coverage security management across the park.

IoT Scenario: Mass Terminals, Full-Coverage Access, Unified Management

The park is equipped with numerous IoT terminals, including temperature and humidity sensors in warehouses, temperature monitoring tags in cold chain areas, smoke and fire detection devices in corridors, energy collection modules on street lamps, and electrical fire detectors in power distribution rooms. These devices silently collect environmental parameters, equipment status and energy consumption data, and upload information to the management platform in real time.

However, these terminals adopt diverse communication protocols such as LoRa, NB-IoT and Wi-Fi. Without unified network management, data will become isolated information silos.

The park demands a network capable of mass terminal access, full-area coverage and unified control. It adapts to multiple IoT protocols and supports hybrid access of narrowband and broadband services, enabling real-time aggregation and precise transmission of all sensor data. This transforms park operation from passive response to active perception.

02 All-Optical Solution Empowerment: Build a Benchmark Infrastructure for Newly Built Parks

To meet the requirements of Eastern Hubei (Huanggang) Smart Logistics Comprehensive Service Center for high bandwidth, low latency, massive connections and high reliability, AINOPOL customized a dedicated design solution based on a new‑generation all‑optical network.

The solution adopts a streamlined two‑layer architecture of core layer – access layer, replacing traditional copper cables with optical fibers to comprehensively boost network bearing capacity and scalability.

Architecture Deployment

At the egress boundary, the ZH-AC1000 converged router is deployed. Equipped with intelligent traffic control and high-precision Layer 7 DPI identification technology, it maximizes bandwidth utilization and enables intelligent traffic scheduling. It supports concurrent access for more than 3,000 online terminals and delivers full-building wireless office network coverage for Office Building No.17.

At the network core layer, ZH-CS8503E (Ultra) core switch and ZH-MA8500X2 chassis OLT (Optical Line Terminal) are deployed. Optical fibers extend directly to all areas of the buildings, ensuring high-speed non-blocking data exchange across the entire network.

At the user access layer, different types of ONU terminals are deployed flexibly according to service requirements. For scenarios such as video surveillance, wireless AP access and IoT device connection, PoE-enabled terminals such as ZH-F8P are adopted to realize one-cable integration of data transmission and power supply. This greatly simplifies on-site cabling while improving deployment efficiency and overall neatness.

In addition, all network devices support one-click cloud access and can connect to the AINOPOL EaaS cloud unified management platform. Operation and maintenance personnel do not need to stay on-site in the equipment room; they can remotely manage and control all network devices via PC or mobile APP.

03 Smooth Intelligent Network, Empowering the Efficient Operation of the Logistics Park

The deployment of the all-optical network has enabled the Eastern Hubei (Huanggang) Smart Logistics Comprehensive Service Center to truly cross the watershed from basic internet access to high-quality network utilization.

PDA scanning and AGV scheduling on warehousing and sorting lines are no longer troubled by millisecond-level latency and packet loss, ensuring real-time and reliable synchronization of WMS/ERP data.

Full-park high-definition surveillance videos are transmitted back smoothly, upgrading security management from passive video recording to active emergency response.

Massive IoT devices achieve unified access, with real-time aggregation of data such as temperature, humidity, smoke detection and energy consumption, turning smart operation from concept into reality.

More than 3,000 terminals in Office Building No.17 stay online concurrently, allowing staff office work, video conferences and email communication to run smoothly without obstruction.

High-quality full wireless coverage ensures seamless online collaboration, laying a solid foundation for efficient office operations across the park. All network devices support one-click cloud access. Through the EaaS cloud unified management platform, operation and maintenance staff can remotely monitor the overall network status in real time — including visualized device status, abnormal traffic alerts, and remote fault recovery. Over 90% of daily maintenance tasks can be completed without on-site visits. The network is no longer a bottleneck for efficiency, but a powerful booster for business development.

More importantly, the all-optical solution establishes an investment logic of one-time construction, long-term benefits. Optical fiber features large transmission bandwidth, long service life and strong anti-interference capability. The streamlined two-layer architecture greatly reduces active devices and failure points. For future capacity expansion, only additional ONUs need to be deployed without rewiring.

This underlying infrastructure not only reserves sufficient scalability for the park’s digital upgrading over the next five to ten years, but also provides a replicable benchmark for infrastructure construction of smart logistics parks in Central China.
